Golf Performance
A beautiful mid-day round in Boca Raton.
I played relatively well, but had a terrible back-9.
43-54.
43 is on track for a great 9-holes, but the back-9 I just started to fall apart mentally. Hitting poor shots, penalty shots, 3-putts, it was a mess.
My biggest problem right now, is that I make poor decisions with too much risk that cost me 2-strokes. It’s a combination of taking a slightly aggressive line off an imperfect lie in a situation where I want to play for par but should be playing for bogey.
I can be honest and admit that it’s definitely an ego thing.
I think, “Well, if I can just hit this shot perfectly I can get a stroke back on the poor shot before this and I’ll be even for the hole.”
And what happens is I turn a would-be bogey into a double- or triple-bogey, and that really hurts the scorecard.
When I shot an 89, and when I shot a 91, I was playing very relaxed golf and hit less than 2 or 3 truly aggressive shots.
In order to be successful I need to play within myself, within the course, and take the strokes I can get while trying to limit mistakes and mental errors.
That will be my focus during these last 2 months of project par, and as a bonus (for reading this far), I’m happy to report my Handicap Index is a 18.9!
Have 2.5 more months to get that number as low as possible… Let’s go!
18.9!! WooHoo!!!!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
